The AIMCET covered a total of 15000 seats in Institutes for MCA. However about 1000 seats were available in premium institutes , which guarantee good placement in IT companies. Thus a student should atleast have a rank in the Top 1000 in this exam. This meant that you will have to score 500 marks or above in the AIMCET out of a total possible score of 800. Thus a good strategy for preparation is required if one has to secure seats in premier MCA Institutes like NIT Trichy, IIT Roorkee, MNIT Allahabad etc. through the AIMCET.
