Dear Students,
The AIMCET which was conducted on 6th June 2004 was a test of moderate to high level of difficulty in Mathematics ,Computer Fundamentals, Programming, Logical reasoning and General Awareness. The test consisted of 200 questions to be answered in 180 min. Each question carried 4 marks and there was 1 negative mark for a wrong answer. Out of the 200 questions, 100 questions were based on Mathematics, 40 questions on Computer Fundamentals, 40 questions on Logical Reasoning and 20 questions on General Knowledge. The test areawise break up of 200 questions is as given below:

The AIMCET covered a total of 15000 seats in Institutes for MCA. However about 1000 seats were available in premium institutes , which guarantee good placement in IT companies. Thus a student should atleast have a rank in the Top 1000 in this exam. This meant that you will have to score 500 marks or above in the AIMCET out of a total possible score of 800. Thus a good strategy for preparation is required if one has to secure seats in premier MCA Institutes like NIT Trichy, IIT Roorkee, MNIT Allahabad etc. through the AIMCET.
